Here is a very simple rule. It will turn on a work scene at a given time and day.

The Work Scene is a group of devices that I either Turn on or off when this scene is selected. The Scheduler is the day, time and repeat functions for this instance to occur.

The Work Scene Icon can just as easily be replaced by a single light and be told to only turn on to a certain dimming setting like 50%.

This Rule is telling a switch to turn off after 3 minutes once it is turned on.

Although switches are actuators, they are also sensors in determining what state they are in. There state can be determined as either on and off, or 1 and 0. For dimmable globes this setting would be 0-100. 

Another convenient rule is this.

This rule will send a notification, as either an email, sms, or push notification(alert notification through your app) once the Door Sensor senses the door is opened.

You can send one or all of these types of notifications to yourself or other contacts listed in your Zipabox Controller. 

Door sensors are also useful for turning on lights or scenes.
